About the Australian Embassy in Morocco

Head of Mission

Abassador Berenice Owen-Jones

Welcome to the website of the Australian Embassy in Rabat, Morocco.

I was delighted to commence my role as Ambassador in July 2017. My team and I have the honour of setting up Australia’s first embassy in the Morocco, which represents a huge step forward in the relationship between our two countries.

Though we are a new Post, diplomatic relations between Australia and Morocco span back over many decades, and have always been marked by friendliness and cooperation. The role of our embassy in Morocco is to advance Australia’s political, economic, and strategic interests, to work with the Moroccan government on issues of common interest, and to identify new areas of cooperation.

My family and I are delighted to be here in Rabat, and learn more about Moroccan culture and people. On behalf of the Australian Government, we would also like to acknowledge and thank our Moroccan counterparts for welcoming Australia with such enthusiasm into their country.

I look forward to many enriching experiences as I work towards advancing our bilateral relationship, and hope to meet many Australians and friends of Australia across the region during the course of my posting.

I hope you find our website interesting and informative.
