Australian passport applications

To apply for a passport

  1. Complete your form online at, and read the intructions to determine whether you need to fill in a PC7 Form or a PC8 Form.
  2. Print the completed application form, sign within the signature box and date. Please ensure that the form has been filled in correctly, and that you have read carefully all accompnaying instructions.
  3. Obtain two passport photos (see photo requirements). Note that Australian passport photo requirements may differ to other passport photos or idenitity photos that you have used previously. Photos must be less than 6 months old.
  4. Book your appointment using, noting that separete appointments are required for separate passport applications.
  5. Bring your signed form, photos, fee payment, most recently issued passport and any other necessary original documentation (as listed on the application form) to your appointment. You will also be required to fill a Credit Card Authorisation Form] for each passport application to make your payment.

The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) uses third-party software (Setmore) to manage the Embassy appointments. Your personal information (including your name and contact details) will be collected by DFAT via Setmore to book your appointment and for related purposes. By proceeding with this booking, you are consenting to the collection of this information by Setmore on DFAT’s behalf for these purposes. If this information is not collected, DFAT’s ability to arrange your appointment will be limited. Your personal information will be handled by Setmore in accordance with Setmore’s Privacy Policy, and by DFAT in accordance with DFAT’s Privacy Policy.


Passport fees will be paid in Australian Dollars by international credit card only. Applicants will need to fill in a Credit Card Authorisation Form. The individual prices of passports services are regularly updated, and can be found at the Setmore booking website

All passport applications lodged overseas incur an additional overseas surcharge fee for adults (including seniors) and children.

As of 1 January 2016, application fees applicable to child applicants aged 16 or 17 are the adult fee and the additional overseas surcharge fee is the child rate.

Processing time

It can take more than four weeks from the day you successfully finalise your application until your passport is ready for collection. An application is not finalised until the Embassy has received all documentation required to issue a passport (see "What form do I require" section below). Further delays may occur if we cannot contact your guarantors, or if we cannot contact both persons with parental responsibility for child applications.

You will receive an email when your passport is ready for collection at the Australian Embassy in Rabat.

What form do I require

Adult: Instructions for a PC7 (one page application form)

Adult: Instructions for a PC8 (five pages application form) (including First passport)

Child: Instructions for a PC8 (five pages application form)

  • A responsible parent must attend the passport interview on behalf of their child (child presence not required up to the age of 16).
  • The lodging parent must present an original ID and a copy of the other parent's ID (when applicable).
  • 10-year validity passports will be issued for children aged 16 or 17.

In addition to the usual requirements for a child passport application, the 16 and 17 year old child must attend the interview along with the lodging parent.

Further information about applying for a passport overseas

All Australian passport applications lodged overseas must be lodged in person at an Australian diplomatic mission and additional overseas fees apply.

At the Australian Embassy in Rabat, applications are only accepted by appointment through the website Setmore. Please click the link to book your passports appointment from the dates and times available.

Please note that child applications should be lodged in person by a parent or person with parental responsibility for the child. The parent or person lodging the application is not required to be an Australian citizen, but will need to bring photographic proof of their own identity to the appointment. Child applicants aged 16 or 17 must also attend the lodgement interview. Children under the age of 16 or 17 do not have to attend the lodgement interview.

As of 1 January 2016, child applicants aged 16 or 17 are issued with a 10-year passport instead of the five-year passport currently issued to children under 18. Applications must still include parental consent, and they must be personally lodged by the applicant together with a parent. The application fee is the adult fee but the overseas surcharge is the child rate.
